About the calculator
\

\
This calculator works out the energy you could save using a TrickleStar TrickleSaver to turn off parts of your system when you turn off your computer or TV. The TrickleSaver senses that you have turned off, and powers down your other devices.

\
To perform the calculation, we need to know the devices you have, and which ones are left on all the time, plus how long on average you use your system on weekdays and weekends.

\
Once we have this, we can calculate the total energy used by your system in a year, and how much power would be saved if you installed a TrickleSaver. If you enter you electricity cost in kWh, we can then calculate your annual dollar saving and the time taken to pay off the investment in a TrickleSaver.
\

For each device you add to your system, we have an average power usage for the device when active and when on standby.

\
Devices that are normally left on can be turned off by the TrickleSaver, so we sum the active power for these devices and standby power for other devices and then calculate the savings in power that the TrickleSaver will make over a year, based on the hours of operation you give.

\
We assume a standby power consumption of 2W for any devices for which we do not have a standby value.
\
